Abstract
Este trabalho está fundamentado em pesquisas realizadas nas obras do professor Júlio Cesar de Mello e Souza, conhecido também pelo seu heterônimo Malba Tahan. Buscamos trazer subsídios para ampliar nosso conhecimento e abrir debates sobre conceitos didáticos defendidos pelo autor e compará-los às práticas e conceitos atuais, trazendo para a discussão as metodologias de ensino defendidas por ele, como também as críticas a metodologias e estratégias como o algebrismo que Malba Tahan atacava duramente por considerar ser prejudicial para o ensino da Matemática. Trazemos nesse artigo conceitos considerados modernos e muito utilizados nos dias atuais e convidamos o leitor a realizar reflexões sobre a prática docente e indagamos o quanto podemos aprimorar nossos conceitos de ensino observando as orientações realizadas pelo Professor Júlio Cesar.
