Abstract
Dans cet entretien avec Françoise Lestage, Carmen Bernand retrace son itinéraire de recherche qui est aussi un parcours entre plusieurs disciplines, notamment l’anthropologie et l’histoire, et plusieurs pays en particulier l’Argentine, la France, et l’Équateur. Elle évoque à la fois sa rencontre avec Claude Lévi-Strauss, Alain Touraine, Maurice Godelier dans les années 1960 et avec Serge Gruzinski dans les années 1970, et ses débuts d’enquêtrice de terrain en Argentine puis à l’hospice de Nanterre et dans les Andes Equatoriennes. Elle évoque ses débuts d’enseignante à l’université de Nanterre et explique comment elle a sans cesse exploré de nouvelles pistes, passant de recherches sur la conception du malheur qui fourniront la matière de sa thèse d’État, au questionnement sur l’idolâtrie, d’un ouvrage sur l’Inca métis Garcilaso de la Vega, à un autre sur Buenos Aires, et plus récemment sur la musique en Amérique latine.
