La place grandissante occupée par les hommes de loi dans les appareils administratifs des États de la fin du Moyen Âge est un lieu commun de l’historiographie. Cette intervention ne vise pas à remettre en question cet acquis de la recherche mais, bien au contraire, à en mesurer l’importance et à en cerner les limites.
