Este artículo interroga el concepto de informalidad mediante la problemática general de la medialidad, que contempla los procesos de sedimentación, de circulación y de producción de la cultura urbana. Partiendo de las grandes líneas de una crítica del funcionalismo en arquitectura, el autor presenta una interpretación dinámica del paisaje urbano tomando en cuenta las dimensiones materiales, conceptuales, relacionales y vividas que componen el espacio de las ciudades postindustriales. Un caso de intervención artística, las Hypothèses d’amarrages (Hipótesis de amarraduras) del colectivo SYN-, ilustra entonces que la vida urbana tiene su profundidad propia, potenciando trayectorias culturales múltiples. Al delimitar las formaciones tácitas que constituyen la vida cotidiana, la informalidad ofrece una mirada hacia la encrucijada cambiante entre el exterior y el interior del paisaje urbano.
