En juin 1661, le voilier La Moricet quitte le port de La Rochelle en direction de la Nouvelle-France. A bord de cet ancien navire de guerre se trouvent notamment le marchand Mathieu Morisset et plusieurs membres de sa parente. Ils naviguent tous le coeur plein d'espoir a la recherche d'une vie nouvelle. Ils s'etabliront a demeure en sol canadien et seront a l'origine d'une fructueuse descendance. A travers ce roman qui repose sur une rigoureuse recherche, Roger Morissette raconte les faits et gestes de ces Morisset du XVIIe siecle, depuis leur naissance dans l'ouest de la France jusqu'a leur etablissement sur les berges du majestueux fleuve Saint-Laurent.
