Abstract
Dalia Ravikovich: Unpublished Poems, expertly edited by Giddon Ticotsky (Hakibbutz Hameuchad, 2016) presents national oriented rhymed poems written when Dalia Ravikovitch was thirteen years old. The young Ravikovitch glances with anxiety at the history of her nation desiring a homeland, a secure and accepted living- space, and a fearless existence. It’s remarkable that the young Ravikovitch is already aware of her people’s fears, tribulations, wanderings and displacements. Beyond Ravikovitch’s early personal setbacks, her own sensitivities enabled her to identify so closely and at such a young age with the difficult history of her people in the diaspora and in modern Israel. Ravikovitch, even as a child, crafts her poems with a keen sincerity, vivid images, colors, and words reaching the reader with much impact.
