Abstract
Après avoir présenté les origines du Mouvement de la déesse, ainsi que ses deux croyances fondatrices – le matriarcat originel et l’existence d’un culte initial de la déesse –, cet article rend compte des principales critiques féministes académiques qu’il a soulevées depuis son émergence. Ces critiques portant sur une spiritualité qui se veut elle-même féministe, la controverse est interne au féminisme, y compris au sein du monde académique. Ce dernier est en effet fortement impliqué, du fait que le Mouvement de la déesse s’appuie largement sur des références universitaires et que plusieurs de ses représentantes clés ont occupé ou occupent des postes académiques.
