Abstract
Pour comprendre comment le Canada peut être perçu comme un refuge par rapport aux États-Unis, nous examinerons l'expérience d’Hédi Bouraoui que nous considérons, à la fois dans sa vie et dans ses écrits, digne d'intérêt. La réappropriation de cette expérience devient un support pour un discours hybride. Au-delà de cette vive dénonciation de l’Américan dream, du Melting Pot, du schedule infernal, de l’American way of life, de la supériorité de l’Ugly Américan, voire même du multiculturalisme, l’auteur couple la narration de moments critiques à des constructions, des méditations et des démonstrations pour justifier le choix d’une alternative forte représentée par le Canada.
