Le développement professionnel (DP) a des retombées importantes sur la qualité de l’enseignement. Si les activités individuelles peuvent y contribuer, les activités collectives se révèlent plus efficaces. Or, les enseignants en précarité d’emploi ayant moins accès à des activités collectives à l’école, nous nous sommes demandé dans quelle mesure une association professionnelle pouvait suppléer à ce problème. Plus spécifiquement, le cas de l’Association québécoise d’enseignement moral (AQEM) a attiré notre attention. Notre recherche, réalisée à l’aide d’une analyse documentaire et d’entrevues auprès d’enseignants membres de l’AQEM, met en relief la manière dont un petit groupe d’entraide informel d’enseignants en enseignement moral s’est progressivement développé en une association professionnelle favorisant le DP de ses membres à travers des activités de formation continue et le développement d’une revue professionnelle.
