Abstract
Œuvre posthume de Champollion le jeune, les Monuments d’Égypte et de Nubie publiés entre 1835 et 1845 par Firmin-Didot, sont une pièce importante de la collection du musée Champollion de Figeac et un objet rare. L’exemplaire conservé à Figeac souffrait néanmoins de divers problèmes de conservation dus pour une part à de mauvaises conditions de conservation et d’autre part à leur taille considérable. La proposition de traitement de conservation-restauration s’est ainsi formulée autour des points suivants : consolider l’existant, améliorer l’aspect visuel des feuillets, conserver tous les éléments de reliure en choisissant des matériaux suffisamment solides face au poids et à la taille des volumes, prévoir un mode de conditionnement et d’exposition satisfaisants.
