Le « contexte » est le plus souvent un oublié de la recherche. Et pourtant… demander à des doctorants-managers de produire des implications managériales revient à attendre de leur recherche une connaissance située, contextualisée et non « hors-sol ». À partir de la définition de « contexte » et de la manière dont il faut s’en saisir, à partir également de nombreux exemples, et d’un retour aux fondamentaux en rappelant la nécessaire cohérence du triptyque « méthodologie – épistémologie – produit de recherche », ce chapitre tente de démontrer pourquoi et comment le doctorant-manager d’Executive DBA qui doit produire une recherche à visée opératoire et située peut s’engager dans une épistémologie pragmatiste et une méthodologie qualitative.
