Abstract
Les finalités éducatives ne sauraient être pensées sans faire référence au contexte socio-politico-économique dans lequel elles s’enracinent. De nombreux auteurs, dont Honneth, Lipovetsky, Chomsky et Laval, dénoncent le caractère inégalitaire des sociétés contemporaines caractérisées par l’individualisme et le consumérisme dans un univers dominé par une économie de marché globalisée. Il faut ajouter à ce portrait la montée des intégrismes, du radicalisme et des violences qui lui sont associées. Les avancées technologiques, si elles ont contribué à la diffusion des informations, ont du même coup engendré une prolifération qui se traduit par la fragmentation des savoirs sans se soucier de leur exactitude. Nous verrons dans ce contexte quels peuvent être les fondements et les finalités de l’éducation, quels sont les instances ou acteurs sociaux qui peuvent en convenir et quelle personne cette éducation devrait former.
