Le présent article aborde la tension qui s’opère systématiquement entre les visées de justesse et d’authenticité du travail interprétatif des comédiens en tant que lecteurs de scénarios, la notion de fiction scénaristique et l’artifice de l’écran – qu’il soit petit ou grand. À partir de la figure du « comédien-lecteur », je veux mettre en lumière 1) ce qui participe de son effacement dans l’espace public au profit de personnages « plus vrais que nature » et de la transparence de l’œuvre audiovisuelle, et 2) comment la lecture de scénarios représente, pour les comédiens, une occasion de conceptualiser à la fois leur environnement professionnel et leur parcours individuel dans une perspective critique. Pour le dire autrement, un interprète, au-delà de son expérience en audition ou en situation de tournage, en lisant un texte scénaristique, effectue nécessairement une forme de « lecture » du milieu dans lequel il évolue.
