Abstract
In international relations, international regime is formed as states effort to meet its increasingly complex interests. Despite differing interests, a country will join the regime as an effort to mantain their stability in global competition. It’s also undertaken by Canada with joining Trans-Pacific Partnership. Although Canada have to faced the pros and cons from their own domestic social group and some rejection from other TPP members, but Canada still decided to join the TPP. The purpose of this research is to determine the reasons of Canada joining the TPP. By using Neoliberal Institusionalism theory by Keohane and Nye, its led to several reasons behind the Canada’s inclusion of joining the TPP, namely, the increased of the interdependence between Canada and the TPP member, Canada’s preference and calculation of TPP’s potentials for Canadian interests and the function of TPP as an international institution that Canadian needs.
