Objetivos Docentes• Describir las indicaciones habituales del tratamiento con sintrom y la importancia del INR.• Describir los ls hallazgos radiologicos de las complicaciones mas frecuentes de los pacientes anticoagulados. Revision del temaLa historia de los anticoagulantes orales comienza en los anos 20 del siglo pasado cuando Schofield describe “la enfermedad del trebol dulce”, una enfermedad hemorragica que afectaba el ganado de Dakota del Norte y Canada. Estaba causada por una sustancia contenida en el heno mal curado que se aislo e identifico como dicumarina por Link y colaboradores en 1933. En 1941 fue usada en ensayos clinicos por Bingham y Butt y, ya en 1944, Nichol y Fasset la emplearon como terapia para la prevencion de recurrencias de los infartos de miocardio en 1944(1).
