Depuis le XIXe siecle, il est bien etabli que Pierre de Vingle a imprime de facon anonyme deux editions du texte satirique intitule Le Livre des marchans. A la :fin de la premiere edition, celle d'aout 1533, l'auteur Antoine Marcourt soulignait qu'il y avait encore matiere a faire « ung bien grand livre »(2). Selon le titre de la deuxieme edition, le tout avait ete «reveu et fort augmente »(3). Dans son analyse, Gabrielle Berthoud r/ a pas manque de revenir sur les elements ajoutes qui faisaient en sorte que cette deuxieme edition, celle du 30 decembre 1534, est nettement plus longue que la premiere, mais il reste a examiner le cas de plus pres(4).
