Abstract
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: Primary Objective: to determine if drug therapies reduce neck pain in adults with mechanical neck disorders. Additionally, to determine if these treatments alter other outcome measures including (but not limited to) range of motion, activities of daily living, return to work status, medication use or patient performance. Secondary Objectives: to determine if certain variables influence the magnitude of the pooled effect of treatment. These variables include: methodological quality of the study, duration of symptoms (ie. acute vs chronic) and type of mechanical neck disorder (ie. whiplash injury, nonspecific neck pain, myofascial pain syndrome, etc).
