T34 Biocontrol® es un fungicida cuya formulacion esta basada en un Agente de Control Biologico (Trichoderma asperellum cepa T34), seleccionado directamente del medio natural. El microorganismo que contiene T34 Biocontrol® muestra un comportamiento excelente contra un gran numero de enfermedades edaficas y foliares que afectan a diversos cultivos de interes economico. T34 Biocontrol® ha sido registrado para su uso como fungicida en la Union Europea, Estados Unidos, Canada y diversos paises en America Latina, Africa y, muy pronto, en Japon. Su efectividad ha sido demostrada para el control de enfermedades fungicas y tambien bacterianas en cultivos que poseen las normas de calidad mas restrictivas y globales, incluyendo las autorizaciones de uso en cultivos ecologicos (Ecocert, OMRI, CAAE, SKAL, OF&G). En un mundo con necesidades crecientes para alimentar a mas de 7,5 millones de personas, en 1965 estaban disponibles 0,347 has de cultivo por persona, pero en 2016 es de 0,192 has2. Esto implica el desarrollo de tecnicas de produccion maximizando los resultados, mejorando la capacidad genetica de las plantas, el uso eficiente del agua y una mejora de las tecnicas de cultivo. Las enfermedades causan perdidas del 16% de todos los cultivos. Las perdidas originadas por el ataque de hongos representan el 30% de las perdidas causadas por enfermedades3. El valor empleado en fungicidas fue de 13,12 millones de dolares en 2016, con un crecimiento esperado hasta 17,58 millones en 20224. Esta necesidad de aportar alimentos en cantidad y calidad suficiente se ha unido a los requisitos normativos, con la consideracion de retirada de gran numero de ingredientes activos del mercado y la demanda de los consumidores de productos mas saludables, haciendo oportuna la aparicion de productos como T34 Biocontrol®.
