Le travail présenté s’inscrit dans la recherche de conditions d’une entrée de « l’algèbre avant la lettre ». Dans cette perspective nous étudions les potentialités de certaines classes de situations de généralisation. Comment peuvent-elles favoriser une pensée algébrique dans les classes du primaire et du début du secondaire avant toute introduction du symbolisme algébrique ? Dans cet article nous montrons l’intérêt d’introduire une analyse praxéologique pour ce type de situations en analysant une situation de généralisation dans une classe de 6e du Québec (élèves de 12 ans)
