Abstract
A new method for the preparation of peroxymonophosphoric acid (H 3 PO 5 ) has been developed. It utilizes a biphasic solution to moderate the vigorous reaction between phosphorous pentoxide (P 2 O 5 ) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ). P 2 O 5 is suspended in carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 ), and concentrated H 2 O 2 is slowly added while being vigorously stirred at low temperature. Careful control of the reaction temperature through the slow addition of H 2 O 2 is critical. Using typical preparation conditions (P 2 O 5 :H 2 O 2 = 0.5:1, H 2 O 2 70 wt %, 2°C, 120180 min), ~70% of the H 2 O 2 is effectively converted to H 3 PO 5 . Increasing the concentration of H 2 O 2 , as well as the mole ratio of P 2 O 5 :H 2 O 2 , leads to an even higher % conversion of H 2 O 2 to H 3 PO 5 . The addition of glacial acetic acid to the P 2 O 5 :H 2 O 2 suspension at the end of the 120180 min reaction (P 2 O 5 :H 2 O 2 :CH 3 COOH = 0.5:1:0.3) leads to the formation of peracetic acid in addition to H 3 PO 5 , and to an overall increase in the conversion ratio of total peroxy acids based on H 2 O 2 (>95%).Key words: peroxymonophosphoric acid, synthesis, stability, conversion ratio.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
