Abstract

Pendahuluan: Transisi epidemiologi terjadi karena pemerintah berhasil menekan angka penyakit infeksi, namun di sisi lain penyakit yang berkaitan dengan faktor degeneratif meningkat seperti Osteoarthritis genu. Pasien dengan OA genu akan mengalami penurunan aktivitas fungsional akibat dari rasa nyeri yang dirasakan. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui efektivitas latihan wall sits dan static quadriceps exercise setelah pemberian Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) dalam meningkatkan aktivitas fungsional. Metode: Metode penelitian ini adalah eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian pre and post test two group design. Sampel sebanyak 26 yang dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok masing-masing 13 orang. Kelompok 1 diberikan TENS dan latihan wall sits dan Kelompok 2 diberikan TENS dan static quadriceps exercise. Pengukuran aktivitas fungsional meggunakan kuisioer western ontario and mcmaster universities (WOMAC). Hasil: Perbedaan rerata nilai WOMAC sebelum dan setelah intervensi setiap kelompok di uji dengan paired sample t-test, dengan hasil p=0,000 dan beda rerata 12,692±7,052 pada Kelompok 1. Pada Kelompok 2 p=0,000 dengan beda rerata 7,000±1,633. Dari uji beda independent sample t-test didapatkan nilai p=0,022 (p<0,05) setelah intervensi. Simpulan: Disimpulkan bahwa latihan wall sits lebih efektif dari pada static quadriceps exercise setelah pemberian TENS dalam meningkatkan aktivitas fungsional pada Osteoarthritis genu di Denpasar. Saran: Penelitian selajutnya dapat menggunakan alat ukur yang objektif untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas fungsional pada Osteoarthritis genu.Key Word; Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, wall sits, static quadriceps exercise, osteoarthritis.
