Abstract
Le double rapport qu’entretient l’art avec la dynamique sociale se traduit par des relations complexes aux pouvoirs politiques et économiques. L’influence du Prince et du Marché sur l’art et la critique des pouvoirs par les moyens de l’art mettent en jeu la libre expression et l’authenticité des expériences. En contexte de redéfinition du rôle social des artistes, où la figure du psychanalyste se substitue à celle du révolutionnaire, et de l’espace public, moins présent dans la trame urbaine et plus confiné à la sphère médiatique, le nouvel art engagé vise à éveiller les consciences plutôt qu’à changer les structures sociales. Sa portée est alors compromise par l’attrait manifesté par la population envers le divertissement et le contrôle exercé par les pouvoirs sur les médias.
