Abstract
Cet article traite d’une approche pédagogique de l’enseignement du son selon une perspective anthropologique en prenant comme étude de cas le cours de premier cycle « Anthropologie du son » offert au département d’anthropologie de l’Université de Victoria depuis 2012, cours qui constitue, à notre connaissance, une première dans une université canadienne. L’article traite de la transformation d’étudiants en « élèves du son » grâce à l’« éveil sonore », qui résulte de l’attention particulière portée aux sons qui nous entourent. De plus, l’enseignement du son, tout comme les approches sensorielles en anthropologie, contribue à la déstabilisation de l’hégémonie du visuel souvent observée dans plusieurs sociétés modernes. L’anthropologie devrait s’intéresser davantage aux phénomènes sonores dans l’enseignement et lors des terrains ethnographiques. Une telle ouverture aurait pour avantage de stimuler de nouvelles manières d’analyser, de théoriser et de créer en anthropologie.
