Abstract
L’ empowerment étant souvent approché sous l’angle des destinataires des prestations sociales, cet article l’aborde sous celui des travailleurs sociaux. Au travers d’exemples tirés de nos recherches sur l’aide à l’insertion socioprofessionnelle (Zwick Monney, 2015) et l’aide aux sans-abri (Grimard, 2011, 2016), nous montrerons comment les professionnels, afin de construire la relation face à des situations paraissant sans solution, développent un ensemble de capacités et de stratégies reposant sur différentes formes de transactions sociales. Les professionnels font en effet face à un processus permanent d’arrangements, d’ajustements, de recherche de compromis, qui se concrétisent notamment sous la forme de coproduction des récits de vie et de mobilisation de ressources privées. Ces capacités d’agir étant aujourd’hui déterminantes dans l’intervention sociale, la question de leur développement est également abordée.
