Abstract

Cet article présente quelques résultats d’une étude-intervention à caractère qualitatif et exploratoire menée auprès de jeunes Québécois inscrits à un Centre d’éducation aux adultes. L’intervention consistait à mettre en place des séances de dessin libre, où les élèves étaient invités à prendre la parole afin d’expliciter et d’interpréter eux-mêmes leurs dessins à partir d’une entrevue semi-structurée (Stoltz, 1992; Teixeira, 2008). Nous nous appuyons sur le concept égalitaire de l’être humain selon le principe de l’action dialogique de Freire (1982) et adoptons le concept d’intelligence piagétien. L’analyse d’extraits de verbatim par repérage d’unités de sens indique que la compréhension progressive des participants quant aux liens entre leurs dessins et leur vie les a amenés à prendre conscience de leurs capacités créatrices, intellectuelles et de prise de parole. Leurs propos sur la sous-estimation de leur intelligence durant le parcours scolaire nous invitent à réfléchir sur des nouvelles pistes de recherche.
