Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The article seeks to reconstruct the Bolzesi collection, formed in Cremona during the first quarter of the nineteenth century, with a special focus on the aesthetic choices that determined its creation. Prompted by Giuseppe Diotti, who was at that time pianting frescoes in his palazzo, Gaetano Bolzesi, a leading local businessman who was well informed about the latest trends in Milan, requested outstanding works from Palagi, Hayez and Ronzoni. In 1816 he succeeded in purchasing the core of his collection from the Bergamasque nobleman Antonio Pezzoli, who had commissioned paintings and sculptures from the undisputed protagonists of contemporary art. The discovery of the Head of a Muse by Antonio Canova, formerly in the Pezzoli collection, or the extensively-documented Hebe by Vicenzo Camuccini, also unpublished, as well as the rediscovery of a hitherto unknown figure of Charity by Gaspare Landi, thus provide a new impetus for research on te evolution of Neoclassicism in Italy.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
