Cette contribution s'interroge sur le rôle des transports dans le développement des parcs en tant qu'espaces touristiques. Les axes de transport nationaux qui ont contribué à assurer le développement de la fréquentation des parcs nationaux canadiens sont aujourd'hui au cœur d'enjeux majeurs en terme de protection de l'environnement et de gestion des flux de transports transcontinentaux. L'analyse montre que l'activité touristique et les besoins de transports se nourrissent mutuellement, mais il apparaît également que le durcissement des objectifs de protection de l'environnement dans les parcs crée une situation nouvelle. Elle suggère une redéfinition des conditions d'accès aux sites, une réorganisation des aménagements, et de nouvelles pratiques de l'espace parc où le déplacement individuel pourrait probablement céder la place aux formes collectives, actuellement considérées comme moins dégradantes pour les écosystèmes.
