Abstract
Dans les années 1930, médecins et physiciens tentèrent d'appliquer les différentes longueurs d'onde du spectre solaire au traitement de nombreuses maladies cutanées ou osseuses (tuberculose, rachitisme). Le radiologue Jean Saidman fut l'un d'eux. Très inventif, il mit au point une plate-forme orientable (pourvue de dix cabines vitrées) permettant de capter le maximum d'énergie solaire pour traiter ses patients. Ce «Solarium tournant», construit sur les hauteurs d'Aix-les-Bains, complétait les soins donnés aux Thermes Nationaux voisins. Cet article retrace brièvement la vie du Dr Saidman, puis évoque la construction, le fonctionnement et les aléas de la destinée du Solarium tournant.
