Mit den Grundlagen fur den kanadischen Foderalismus im CONSTITUTION ACT von 1867 wurden bereits mit der Staatsgrundung die Machtbefugnisse und Einnahmenmoglichkeiten der Bundes- sowie der Provinzregierungen geregelt. Demnach verfugen die kanadischen Provinzen uber relativ ausgedehnte Zustandigkeiten, so fur Gesundheitswesen, Bildung sowie Institutionen der lokalen Ebene. Der Bundesregierung sind dagegen eine Liste anderer Aufgaben zugeordnet worden, wie die Regulierung von Handel und Gewerbe, Militar, Strafrecht sowie der Abschluss internationaler Staatsvertrage. Bezuglich der Einnahmenerhebung unterliegt die Bundesregierung keinerlei Einschrankungen, Provinzen durfen sich dagegen lediglich der direkten Besteuerung bedienen. Der vorliegende Beitrag gibt einen Uberblick uber die Position der Provinz Alberta im foderalen System des Bundesstaates Kanada.
