Abstract
“Talleres sobre Berrendos” empezaron en 1965 como los “Talleres Estatales sobre Berrendos” y actualmente se realizan cada dos anos, en anos par. Los asistentes representan a las agencias de vida silvestre de los estados del oeste de Estados Unidos y las provincias de Canada, las agencias federales de vida silvestre y de manejo de la tierra, universidades y colegios, consultores y conservacionistas de Canada, Mexico y Estados Unidos. Las metas de los Talleres son intercambiar informacion e impulsar la perpetuacion de los hatos silvestres de berrendo. Las reuniones se llevan a cabo en diferentes localidades para presentar datos cientificos y tecnicos y para realizar viajes de campo. Esta informacion se recopila en la memoria del evento que da el “estado del arte” del conocimiento sobre el berrendo y su Adicionalmente, el Taller publica periodicamente la “Guias para el Manejo del Berrendo” dando un compendio de practicas y tecnicas que se sugieren para manejar al berrendo y su habitat.
