Abstract
ABSTRACT Through their collection of reminiscences of Thomas Wolfe, editors Mark Canada and Nami Montgomery present a comprehensive portrait of the complex, contradictory personality of this often-volatile literary genius. Dividing Wolfe's short life span into four phases, the editors include entertaining, clearly annotated memories by people acquainted with Wolfe at specific times in his development as a man and as an artist. The publication focuses on the autobiographical nature of Wolfe's writing, providing glimpses into the personal issues and prejudices that made his relationships complicated but fascinating and ultimately contributed to his success.
