Abstract
Le but du présent article est de mettre en perspective l’implication de l’Association des bibliothèques publiques du Québec (ABPQ) dans le développement des bibliothèques publiques du Québec depuis sa création en 1984. À partir d’une approche thématique, retracer le parcours de cette association vouée à la promotion des bibliothèques publiques permettra de démontrer son rôle au cours des 30 dernières années. L’accent sera mis sur les principaux enjeux et défis auxquels elle a dû faire face pour en arriver à être reconnue à titre de catalyseur du développement des bibliothèques publiques du Québec. Les dispositifs mis de l’avant par les acteurs de l’ABPQ impliqués dans une dynamique de contestation culturelle, sans oublier les principaux résultats obtenus, feront aussi l’objet de cet article.
