Au Burkina Faso, les partenariats public privé (PPP) sont depuis quelques années plébiscités par les acteurs politiques. Ce modèle d’investissement est notamment mis en avant par le gouvernement comme une source alternative de financement d’infrastructures et de services publics.Dans la commune de Koudougou situé dans la région du centre-ouest du pays, un modèle de gestion d’une gare routière impliquant des acteurs publics et privés a été mis en place. C’est une première pour cette commune qui a cofinancé la réalisation de cette infrastructure avec l’appui de la Coopération suisse. Pour permettre une pleine fonctionnalité de la gare, la mairie a invité les sociétés de transport à investir dans la gare pour s’installer et poursuivre leurs activités. Les sociétés privées ont répondu à cette offre de gestion avec plus ou moins de succès.Cet article s’appuie sur l’étude de ce cas pour identifier les difficultés rencontrées, les risques liés aux processus de gestion PPP pour les différents acteurs, notamment les risques d’exploitation et financiers, les risques juridiques et politiques. Sur la base des acquis et limites observés à Koudougou, l’article propose plusieurs leçons à prendre en compte pour améliorer la gestion d’une infrastructure collective impliquant un PPP.
