Depuis 2015, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) a réalisé des récits visuels sur l’histoire de 40 lieux de théâtre montréalais inaugurés entre 1825 et 1930. Produit en collaboration étroite avec quatre partenaires issus de trois universités québécoises, ce projet de recherche-diffusion sur l’histoire culturelle, sociale et commerciale de ces lieux culturels s’appuie sur les collections et fonds d’archives de l’institution. L’auteure documente les paramètres de départ du projet, puis contextualise le recours aux imprimés éphémères et aux images au regard de l’évolution des pratiques en histoire et en documentation. La nature des collaborations avec les milieux universitaires, notamment le Laboratoire d’histoire et de patrimoine de Montréal de l’UQAM, est commentée. Le recours aux plateformes web gratuites Historypin et Story Maps , ainsi que les retombées documentaires et scientifiques du projet sont également abordés.
