Abstract
Ekologia funkcjonalna roślinności jest nowoczesną i dynamicznie rozwijającą się dziedziną wiedzy. Niniejsza praca ma na celu przegląd podstawowych teorii ekologii funkcjonalnej, może służyć również jako zestawienie kluczowych publikacji z tej dziedziny i rezerwuar polskich tłumaczeń pojęć powszechnie używanych w literaturze anglojęzycznej. Zaczynam od opisu koncepcji ekologii funkcjonalnej i podstaw analizy cech funkcjonalnych. Następnie wskazuję przykłady mechanizmów regulujących skład zbiorowisk roślinnych, które można dzięki tej metodzie analizować. Opisuję ideę różnorodności funkcjonalnej oraz jej klasyczne wskaźniki i przedstawiam ich rolę w badaniach zbiorowisk roślinnych. Wspominam o możliwościach modelowania zbiorowisk przy użyciu cech funkcjonalnych, które może być kolejnym krokiem naprzód w zrozumieniu procesów rządzących zbiorowiskami roślinnymi. Na koniec odnoszę się do praktycznych aspektów stosowania cech funkcjonalnych w badaniach naukowych.
