ЭТНОГРАФИЯ / ETNOGRAFIA.2019.№ 2 (4) А Н Н О Т А Ц И Я .Эссе посвящено одной из основных тем, находящейся на стыке научных интересов автора и его прошлой политической деятельности, -влиянию городских повседневностей и сообществ на формирование гражданских инициатив и гражданской активности, в том числе политической.Текст выстроен в форме рассуждения на основе собственных наблюдений за городской повседневностью и ее трансформациями в районе Берлин-Кройцберг, где автор проживает в течение последних двадцати пяти лет.Для сопоставления привлекаются также наблюдения, сделанные в других европейских городах.Анализируя развитие европейских городов в послевоенном XX в. от ожидаемого заката города как места для жизни к возрождению городов в XXI в., выражающемуся в преображении и оживлении городской среды, автор показывает, как через разнообразие культуры и культур в городских кварталах происходит повышение их символической ценности и рост востребованности, а также инициируются действия гражданского общества в области политики и идентичности, делая кварталы пространствами политических и повседневных обсуждений и разнообразных гражданских движений.Именно квартал большого города является той средой, в которой достигается сходная с сельским сообществом соседская близость людей и одновременно возможность удерживать необходимую дистанцию, свойственная городу, что в свою очередь делает возможным гармоничное сосуществование разнообразных стилей жизни и культур и в конечном итоге демонстрирует успешность интеграционных процессов.
