Focalisation de l’activité sur le mot et genèse orthographique chez de jeunes élèves

Abstract
Les enseignantes que nous observons focalisent l’activité de leurs élèves sur le mot, unité fondamentale de l’écrit dans les pratiques expertes. Selon notre hypothèse, grâce au prêt de conscience magistral, les élèves agiraient dès le début des apprentissages formels dans un monde où l’écriture est orthographique sans recours à une définition explicite du mot ni à la connaissance des règles d’orthographe. Nos observations montrent comment, en incorporant les manières d’agir proposées sous forme de scénarios, les élèves écrivent en segmentant graphiquement. Leurs actions et leurs verbalisations manifestent un traitement des unités graphiques comme formes orthographiques en amont de l’enseignement grammatical explicite. L’activité sur le mot induit selon nous une secondarisation de l’habitus scriptural des élèves et peut fonder la genèse orthographique.
