Abstract
« Un endroit désert » est une nouvelle d’Alice Munro qui figure dans le volume intitulé Secrets de Polichinelle (1995). Fondée sur une énigme que le dénouement n’éclaircit pas, l’intrigue néo-victorienne met en scène une pionnière canadienne d’origine écossaise qui s’accuse du meurtre de son mari alors qu’elle n’en est peut-être pas l’auteur. L’énigme de l’indicible et de l’indéchiffrable dans la nouvelle sera abordée par le biais du mythe.
