Alors que les personnes de 65 ans et plus constituaient environ 5 % de la population québécoise pendant le premier tiers du xxe siècle, elles en forment actuellement 13 %, atteindront 24 % en 2026, puis près de 30 % en 2051 : dans 25 ans à peine, un Québécois sur quatre sera âgé d’au moins 65 ans.
