En 1584 paraît en latin chez le célèbre imprimeur d’Anvers Christophe Plantin un livre de quatre-vingts pages intitulé Itinerarium per nonnullas Galliae Belgicaepartes. Il a pour auteurs le grand cartographe Abraham Ortelius (1527-1598) et un de ses fidèles amis, Jean Vivien, riche marchand originaire de Valenciennes installé à Anvers.
