Die Zilien von Paramecium aurelia dienten als Vorlage für das Objekttransportsystem, das R. Nishimura, K. Uchida und Mitarbeiter in ihrer Zuschrift auf S. 13442 beschreiben. Anordnungen nadelförmiger Kristalle eines photochromen Diarylethenderivats biegen sich vom einfallenden UV-Licht weg. Durch Steuerung der Richtung des einfallenden UV-Lichts kann so die Bewegung einer Polystyrolperle auf einer Kristallanordnung über das photoinduzierte Biegen der Kristalle dirigiert werden.
