Les systèmes d’information géographique (SIG) permettant de localiser, d’analyser et de représenter des données spatiales ont transformé en cartographes de nombreux chercheurs. Cet article s’intéresse à ce phénomène en présentant un projet d’atlas culturel historique mené par une équipe multidisciplinaire, lequel illustre les difficultés soulevées par les projets de cartographie numérique et leurs limites, mais aussi leur apport pour les recherches transdisciplinaires.
