La maladie d’Alzheimer engendre l’un des troubles neurocognitifs (TNC) les plus répandus dans le monde. Elle s’accompagne des symptômes psycho-comportementaux comme l’anxiété et l’humeur dépressive. La prise en charge de ces symptômes comprend des interventions pharmacologiques et non pharmacologiques. Parmi ces dernières, l’écoute de musiques familières (EMF) pourrait représenter une intervention efficace. Toutefois, peu d’études ont démontré jusqu’ici son efficacité sur l’anxiété et l’humeur dépressive. La présente étude a mesuré à l’aide d’un devis à cas unique à lignes de base multiples l’impact d’une intervention d’EMF sur l’anxiété et l’humeur dépressive associée à une activité de la vie quotidienne d’une personne atteinte d’un TNC modéré. Une participante a bénéficié de 24 minutes d’EMF bi-hebdomadairement durant six semaines avant la prise de son bain. Les mesures de l’anxiété et de l’humeur dépressive ont été prises à l’aide des échelles DMAS et HARS en pré/post-intervention ainsi qu’à l’aide de mesures continues (avant et après chaque séance d’EMF). Les données recueillies en pré/post-intervention ont fait l’objet d’analyses d’amélioration clinique. Celles recueillies en mesures continues ont été soumises à des analyses visuelles et à des analyses statistiques de Tau-U. Les résultats liés aux mesures continues ont montré l’efficacité de l’EMF pour réduire significativement l’anxiété chez la participante. Aucune amélioration significative n’a été objectivée pour l’humeur dépressive. Les mesures pré/post-intervention n’ont montré aucun changement clinique significatif. La duplication de cette étude ou la tenue d’études à essai randomisé sont suggérées afin de poursuivre la démonstration systématique des effets de l’EMF dans la gestion de ces symptômes.
