Abstract
Lesslie Newbigin made a number of important contributions to 20th century missiology, but he will be most remembered for his insistence on an in-depth missionary encounter with modern western culture, in which the church challenges the foundational beliefs of modern culture and presents the gospel as an alternative way of life.
