Abstract
Les collectivités territoriales jouent un rôle de plus en plus important dans la mise en oeuvre de programmes de développement international. Par conséquent, la coopération internationale devient un champ pertinent pour les chercheurs et les intervenants qui doivent produire des connaissances permettant de mieux promouvoir les initiatives locales de développement. Cette production a pour objectif de mieux comprendre les enjeux et les défis de la coopération internationale des collectivités territoriales en France et au Canada. Pour atteindre cet objectif, nous avons procédé à un examen des pratiques de coopération recueillies dans divers documents gouvernementaux; mais, nous avons également analysé des articles et d’autres documents scientifiques. De cette analyse, il ressort qu’en France et au Canada, la coopération internationale des collectivités territoriales n’est pas désignée par le même concept, ne se déploie pas selon les mêmes approches, mais poursuit les mêmes objectifs.
