Abstract

The article examines the peculiarities of the American and Canadian models of the Muslim immigrants’ integration into the western society considering modern migration streams from Islamic countries. The author believes that, in contrast to the USA, Canada’s policy of multiculturalism allows preserving cultural diversity, tolerant attitude to both local and imported traditions. The paper concludes that world experience and approaches to solving the immigration problem justify the efficiency of multiculturalism policy as a strategy of ethnic integration.
