Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

EnglishThe reassessment of an Etruscan red-figure stamnos at the Royal Ontario Museum of Toronto leads to its attribution to the Painter of Bonn 83, a relevant figure of the ‘Campanizing Group’ described by John D. Beazley. This attribution is the first step of the analysis in depth of the signature-motifs appearing in the 19 vases attributed to this painter and of their development in the course of the artist’s life. The Toronto stamnos belongs to the youth of the painter and is the only vase marked with an inscription, which records the place of production as belonging to the Saties family. This is attested exclusively in Vulci and known to be the owner of the prestigeous Tomb Francois, contemporary to the Painter of Bonn 83. It is therefore likely that the painters of the ‘Campanizing Group’ worked in Vulci under the protection of one of the most important gentes of the local elite, which owned the relevant workshop and was probably involved in the reception of immigrant craftsmen from Magna Grecia. italianoLa revisione di uno stamnos etrusco a figure rosse del Royal Ontario Museum di Toronto consente di attribuire il vaso al Pittore di Bonn 83, figura di spicco del cosiddetto ‘Campanizing Group’ di John D. Beazley: tale attribuzione consente di approfondire l’analisi dei motivi firma di questo pittore, al quale sono assegnati 19 vasi, e il loro sviluppo nel corso dell’attivita dell’artista.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
