The complex lies in the southern part of the Pikes Peak Intrusive Center within the larger 1.08 Ga Pikes Peak Batholith. The Pikes Peak Intrusive Center is a composite intrusion composed of a series of granitic plutons that range from 2 to 8 kilometers in size (Wobus 1976).
