Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

As befits our newly renovated space on the 4th floor of the iconic 401 Richmond heritage building, we took a different approach to this year’s annual curatorial mentoring project. Early in 2016, two emerging curators – Claudia Mattos, then working with Performa in New York, and Noor Alé, working at the National Gallery of Canada - approached us enthusiastically with a request to put together a program loosely based on ideas of the body and migration. [...] Working with their stated interests, Alé and Mattos went on to develop a theme they felt was relevant for these politically tense times. The program they proposed is drawn from the holdings at Vtape and takes its name from the eponymous 1997 documentary by Lebanese artist Akram Zaatari. To acknowledge this inspiration, we have decided to screen this work just prior to their program." -- p. 1.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
