Abstract
Between 2007 and 2014, Rodrigue Jean initiated a cinematographic experience based on the work of an artistic collective called Epopee, which involved Montreal residents living in situations of exclusion and extreme precariousness. The article analyses how these films provide an imaginary that helps the viewers face the rupture of sociality often experienced in city life. The form of companionship displayed in these movies brings to light the social dynamics that lead to exclusion, while it fosters the “radical imagination” in order to intensify the political sensibility of city dwellers.
